Volunteer opportunity April 27th at Moon Lake and Seven Tubs

Luzerne County, in partnership with the Great American Cleanup of Pennsylvania and PennDOT, is offering two volunteer opportunities on Saturday, April 27 from 8-11am: Moon Lake Park in Hunlock Creek and Seven Tubs Nature Area in Plains.

The goal of the Luzerne County Cleanup is to gather 50 volunteers for each volunteer site.  At Seven Tubs volunteers will clear up litter that has collected over the winter.  At Moon Lake volunteers will rake leaves, pick up branches, and gather up loose brush.  PennDOT will provide work gloves, bags, and vests, but members of the community will provide the manpower and bring personal lawn tools they feel may be useful. (rake, saws, chipper/splitter, shredder, etc.)

Volunteers will meet at 8am rain or shine at each park.  The meeting place at Moon Lake will be the park office; Seven Tubs volunteers will meet near the trail head at the end of the paved access road. Volunteers under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.  Refreshments will be provided by the Pennsylvania Environmental Council.  Thank you for lending a hand to keep your county parks clean!

Interested volunteers can email Councilman Harry Haas at hhaas@luzernecounty.org
