The 6th Annual Susquehanna Warrior Trail 5K Race/Walk
Shickshinny Forward was out in full-support of the 6th Annual Susquehanna Warrior Trail 5K Race/Walk, with two race participants and several members staffing the Shickshinny Forward stand.
Some of the finish line stats help tell the story of what this great race does for the community. Daniel Pszeniczny of Benton finished first with a speedy 18:08 minutes. An 11-year-old boy from Berwick came in 6th place out of a record 331 participants. The first Shickshinny resident to cross the line was 23-year-old Luke Shillington, who came in 20th place. The Polish Falcons of neighboring Mocanaqua were well represented in show stopping hot pink and black T-shirts. The most senior finishers were two 75-year-old gentlemen from Mahanoy and Wilkes-Barre.
In other words, this event inspires good health, brings the community together, draws in out-of-town support, and involves people of all ages. In addition, it supports the core mission statement of Shickshinny Forward, which encourages the development of our River Town as a hub of recreation and community activity.
Thanks to SWTC for all of your hard work!
